Anyone who wishes to become certified in the fundamentals of finance and operations apps should be prepared to describe Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, Finance, and the core capabilities of these apps when they take the certification exam.
35-40% of the exam will describe the supply chain management capabilities. Candidates will be tasked to use cases to make these descriptions. They must also familiarize themselves with product material records, dimensions, and variants. They should also be able to both describe products and released ones. Candidates should familiarize themselves with pricing and discounts concerning trade agreements and describe intercompany capabilities.
Knowledge of the manufacturing process plays a significant role in one’s ability to pass the exam. Candidates should be able to describe all manufacturing strategies, including lean, discrete, and process manufacturing. They should have a firm knowledge of BOMs (bills of materials) routes and operations related to production orders. They will also be tasked to identify the various stages of the production lifecycle and fully understand the concept of shop floor management. They will also need to know about master planning and how to optimize that planning.
Another critical aspect of the exam revolves around inventory and warehousing capabilities. Costing methods, on-hand inventory capabilities, and inventory journal types will be mentioned. Candidates will also be asked to describe quality management capabilities and how to use cases for WMS (Warehouse Management Systems). Exam takers will be asked to use cases to describe Transportation Management Systems and landed costs.
Other areas of exam preparation are the finance and operations apps, reporting and integration capabilities, practical expense management, fixed asset management, and budgeting. Microsoft offers a thorough study guide and training classes to help candidates increase their likelihood of passing the exam.
