Experienced administrators comprise the occupation of an IBM Certified Administrator—IBM Netezza Performance Server V11.x, who can become certified in his or her field. The candidate should first have extensive experience as a database administrator and a thorough knowledge of how the IBM Netzza Performance Server works. He or she can perform related tasks like administration, monitoring, security, implementation, and configuration.
With their existing skills and experience as database administrators in analytics/ data warehousing, candidates are well-positioned to succeed in the exam and become certified as an IBM Certified Administrator-IBM Netezza Performance Server V11.x. Their working knowledge of Linux, shell scripting, and ANSI SQL, coupled with their understanding of database security and problem-solving abilities, will serve them well. Additionally, their grasp of performance in massively parallel environments and the IBM Netezza Performance Server architecture is a strong foundation.
The exam consists of 60 questions, of which candidates must answer at least 41 correctly. They are allowed 90 minutes to take the test, which must be taken in person. It consists of six main parts: architecture, best practices for database design, monitoring and tuning for performance, administration, support and maintenance, and finally, Netezza clients and tools.
IBM offers each exam candidate courses and publications to help them prepare for the exam. The courses are not required but are strongly recommended before the certification exam. Although candidates may elect to study independently, it is highly recommended that they utilize the many tools and resources offered by IBM. Hands-on experience is required before a candidate can stand a reasonable chance of passing the test. Courseware fails to replace the requirement for experience. There is no substitute for that. Candidates should embark on a wide range of study areas and understand the inner workings of the application inside out, because course offerings are continuously being added and updated by the company.
