The Cisco Certified Design Expert certification exam is a 120-minute exam in English that will demonstrate that candidates have the knowledge and skills to gather and clarify network functional requirements, to develop implementation plans, that they can develop network designs that meet functional specifications and that they can develop implementation plans and cover design decisions and their rationale. It shows the world that they possess expert-level knowledge, including business strategy design, control, data and management plane design, network design, security, and service design.
In February of next year, Cisco will offer an elective for its CCDE certification that will be focused on AI infrastructure. This elective will demonstrate the skills of experienced Network Design Engineers in designing data center networks that can handle the demanding needs of AI workloads. The new c3.1 practical and written exam will be ready for testing at Cisco Live Amsterdam.
Both the CCDE Written and the Practical Exam focus on HLD (High Level Design) aspects and business requirements within enterprise network architectures.
Both exams share the same unified blueprint of exam topics. The CCDE Written Exam will validate core enterprise Network architectures’ HLD aspects. The CCDE Practical Exam was designed to be modular and provides exam candidates enough flexibility to focus on their specific areas of expertise and validate core enterprise architecture HLD aspects.
The CCDE Written exam (400-007) validates the HLD (High-Level Design) aspects of business requirements within network architectures. It is a two-hour exam containing 90 to 110 multiple-choice questions about core enterprise network arcatures HLD aspects. It serves as a prerequisite for the cCDE Practical Exam and will remain available to recertify one’s CCIE and other lower-level certifications. The exam is a closed-book exam, and no outside reference materials will be allowed.
